How do I enter sick leave if I’m already on vacation?

You want to enter sick leave for a period in which vacation is already entered, and the system doesn’t let you? This is because two leave types can’t overlap by default.

How to enter the sick leave

1. Adjust the vacation accordingly by shortening the period, or delete it.
2. Wait for the approver to confirm the deletion.
3. After that, the period is free and you can enter the sick leave.

Allowing overlaps

If you want leave types to be allowed to overlap, we can activate this function for you. Please contact support@absence.io (as an admin).

After activation, another switch appears at the very bottom of the leave type settings, Allows overlapping with other absences. You need to activate it for both leave types that should be allowed to overlap.

Please note that only leave types that don’t deduct from an allowance can overlap. As soon as one of the two types has an allowance, as vacation does, the overlap doesn’t work. For all other leave types, it doesn’t matter whether they are hourly or need approval.
